Local stores, restaurants, hotels, and baseball diamonds are full of young baseball stars and their families this week thanks to the 11U Cal Ripken Pacific Southwest Regional Baseball Tournament being hosted by Vernal Youth Baseball. The tournament has welcomed 12 teams: 1 from Hawaii, 5 from California, 1 from Arizona, and 4 from Utah including Roosevelt as the Southern Utah State Champions and Vernal as the host team. All are invited to come join the over 700 guests in town for the tournament to watch America’s favorite pastime. On both Wednesday and Thursday, Roosevelt plays
at 11:30am
and Vernal plays
at 7:00 pm. Thursday
is the special Vernal night that will have a great fireworks show after the
7:00 pm
game. The first 200 fans to the gate for that game get a special gift and anyone wearing red will get $2 off their ticket at the gate. “The town is full right now thanks to this tournament,” shares event coordinator Kam Pope. “We invite everyone to come out
Thursday night
for Vernal night.” All games are played at the Ashley Valley Ballpark in Vernal,
280 North 1000 West.
