The Union High Drama Department has proven they are a force to be reckoned with. Last November, the department’s presentation of
Newsies
had audience members coming back for a second and third time. It was the first drama production in the new Union High School’s state-of-the-art auditorium and it was a match for the impressive venue. The complicated scaffolding-like-set was a key ingredient in the show’s professional delivery. Union Drama Director Mindy Palmer explains that some combination of luck and fate allowed them to have the set from The Music and Theatre Company and that having it just took everything to the next level. Finally, it was the talent of the
Newsies
cast that left everyone without a doubt that great things would continue to come from Union High’s Drama Department. Very few programs have enough talented young men who can actually dance to do a show like
Newsies
justice but Union somehow has them in abundance. So what has come since? The department has taken on a completely different challenge for their spring play.
Almost, Maine
is touted as a story of love, but not quite. The department’s presentation of it won first place at region competition as a one act play. Tonight a special presentation of
Almost, Maine
will be performed at the Union High Auditorium
starting at 7pm
for Free! Come experience for yourself the caliber of talent in the Union High Drama Department.
