AAA predicts a record-breaking 48.9 million Americans will travel for this Independence Day weekend and safety cannot be understated. After a multi-vehicle collision caused by a drowsy driver sent 3 people to the hospital, the Utah Highway Patrol is asking people to be aware of the signs and effects of driving drowsy. Some things to look for is frequent blinking/eye closure, suffering attention failure, and memory impairment. It might seem like it is not a big deal but drowsiness leads to slower reaction times as well as impaired judgements. These behaviors will lead to more increased levels of risk taking while suffering from deficiencies in cognitive performance.
