The final concert and wrap up of season 3 for the Utah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra has been emotionally charged for many reasons. Seniors Cutler Rust, Lucy Flake, Luna Rosal, Dante Zubel, Abby Nakai, Liberty Bennion, Spencer Embleton, and Zac Carlton played their final concert earlier this month with the group, a concert that was added to the schedule at the request of the seniors as one last hurrah. Most of the seniors have been with the organization since its inception and have appreciated the ensemble experience it provided. “The youth orchestra helped me be a better person and a better leader,” shares principal violinist Cutler Rust, who has served as
’s Concert Master all three seasons. Principal violist Luna Rosal agreed that the leadership experience was priceless and emphasized how she has loved the chance to share the arts. “It has been such a pleasure to make music in the Basin,” shares Luna. “Some people say that music doesn’t matter but music makes lives better and being in a youth orchestra helps us bring something beautiful into the world.” Senior Dante Zubel had the bonus during his final concert of playing with
a piece written by one of his own students. As a composer himself, Dante has been a mentor to local musician and budding composer Jill Boyd and
was able to debut her piece entitled ‘Epic’. Well done to the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra on a successful third season and a heartfelt farewell to all the seniors as they venture on to new challenges! Good luck!
