Students from the middle schools across the Uintah School District truly represented the Basin well at the state science fair. The students received a combined 37 awards/recognitions as they competed at the Ritchey State Science and Engineering Fair at Weber State University. There was twenty-two Honorable Mentions and six Excellent Mentions. Four students, Taysia Richens, Gavin Bain, Alexa McKee, and Amy Long earned third place honors. Annalese Baumgardner earned second place honors. Some special awards given out include the Weber State Spirited Science Student Award to Hailee Shull and the Association for Women Geoscientists Award to Alexa McKee. Also, Annalese Baumgardner and Taysia Richens were named Broadcom Masters, which means they qualified for another science fair where the winner will have a minor planet named after them.
