The Basin is still recovering from the Dollar Ridge Fire that has left a very literal scar across 68,000 acres of the landscape. One of the lesser known scars is the fact that it severely damaged the Strawberry River fishery. The river had been a very popular brown trout fishery but had almost all the fish killed because of the ash flows and pH changes caused by the fire, as well as the flash floods. Now biologists from the Division of Wildlife Resources are planning to deliver brown trout to remote stretches of the river. They will restock thousands of trout by driving ATVs to various locations along the Strawberry River.
