Representative Rob Bishop has offered his thanks to the state of Utah for supporting legislation regarding Daylight Savings. Before the 2019 Utah Legislature wrapped up last week, the Utah Senate offered the final approval of a joint resolution supporting the Daylight Act, a piece of federal legislation introduced by Representative Bishop which would allow more flexibility for states regarding daylight saving time. “It is encouraging to receive this vote of support by the Utah Legislature,” shares Representative Bishop. “As a student of federalism, I can say it is the states that ought to be deciding how best to set their watches. Technology and awareness have progressed to a point today where we can easily accommodate the unique needs of states when it comes to daylight saving time.” Currently, states are prohibited from operating under year round daylight saving time but Bishop’s Daylight Act, currently introduced in the 116th Congress, would allow states to determine what is best.
