
Officers were unable to apprehend the individual behind the wheel of a high speed chase that started in Vernal on July 2nd. Posts began showing up on social media of a high speed chase on Tuesday around 5:00 pm alerting drivers to be safe on the roads. Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Brett Gehring confirmed on Wednesday that there had been a high speed chase. “Our Trooper heard an Attempt to Locate (ATL) for a Property Damage (PD) hit and run vehicle,” shared Lt. Gehring. “He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at State Road 40 Mile Marker 141. The vehicle fled.” For public safety reasons, the Trooper terminated the pursuit before entering the town of Gusher on State Road 40 at Mile Marker 127. Lt. Gehring stated that no identifying information was obtained, including no license plate of the fleeing vehicle.
