Among the highlights of the Vernal Comic Con held earlier this month was the display of Ted Munford’s jaw dropping Halloween costume collection. Munford attended the event, staying on hand to answer questions and pose for pictures with the wide-eyed fans of his epic costumes. He had previously donated Ironman and the Incredible Hulk to the library and his Buzz Lightyear costume, which was originally donated to Prime Time For Kids, had made it to the library as its home as well. For the Comic Con event this month, Munford brought the Storm Trooper, Baymax, and his most recent and grandest costume, Bumblebee, to be on display. Munford ultimately decided the set belonged together and asked Library Director Sam Passey if the whole collection could stay. Passey enthusiastically accepted the offer and says the costumes will be incorporated into the remodel design of the library’s Children’s Section. When asked why he chose to donate, Munford was quick to answer. “If they stay in my possession they will just get busted up because I don’t have anywhere to put them,” he explains. “But more than that I want them to bring as much joy to as many people as possible. Looking at the kids faces light up when they look at the costumes is just cool and if that can be a legacy then I’ll take it.” For a chance to see the costumes in person, make a visit to the library and for a chance to see the Bumblebee costume in live action, Munford says he’ll be borrowing his creation to wear during some events at the Uintah County Fair this summer.
