Adjustments to county code will now allow for more livestock on a variety of zones within Uintah County. According to Uintah County Commissioner Mark Raymond, the county code was adjusted to be consistent with Vernal City recommendations. The increase in variety permitted on private property within the county is applicable to RA-1, A-1, A-3, and A-4 zones. Vernal City amended their code to allow livestock in more zones back in 2012. At that time, the code was changed to allow for rabbits, ducks, hens and miniature goats in fenced back yards or contained areas behind homes. The code also detailed how many and what combination of animals were allowed. Urban livestock has grown in popularity nationwide in the last 5 years as more people are interested in having their own eggs among other benefits.
