The flu season usually runs from October through May. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone who is 6 months or older get a flu vaccine every year. Also be proactive in taking preventative actions to help stop the spreading of germs. It is important to avoid close contact with sick people but if your child does get sick it is recommended that they stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone. Be sure to cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough. Wash your hands continually for 20 seconds with soap and water, and be sure to avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth because that is how germs spread. Keep surfaces clean and disinfected to stop the spread germs.
