Fires have plagued Moffat County and western Colorado this week.

, a home fire in Craig quickly spread causing firefighters to tear down part of the ceiling inside the home to reach the fire in the space between the ceiling and roof. Four people were inside the home at the time of the fire but all got out safely and damage to the inside of the home was kept to a minimum. A grass fire was also put out in Craig

afternoon that had been spread due to high winds and low humidity. The Blair Mountain Fire that started last month west of Meeker continues to burn and has now reached 500 acres. Crews are on hand and prepared to be more aggressive but for now the fire is being allowed to burn in order to limit future fire danger and to benefit the ecosystem.
