The Duchesne County School District is working to implement processes and tools that aid everybody, from teachers to students to parents, in the education journey. One such tool is the new learning management system called Canvas. The system is currently used by most school districts in Utah (including many universities) and will be used in the secondary schools in the district. Curriculum Director Jason Young shares that “the district is working toward a more personalized approach to helping students. Canvas is part of how we’re doing that. Students will be able to use it to watch videos or take quizzes. Parents will be able to see exactly what their students are working on. It’s a tool to help teachers help students learn.”  Access is expected to begin in mid-September but will gradually roll out more features and wider uses as the school year continues. There is a learning curve for everyone, including the teachers who are exploring the best ways to use the new system.
