It was another great year for the Cal Ripken Pacific Southwest Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Vernal Youth Baseball. The team from Yuma, Arizona walked away the tournament champions but all twelve teams enjoyed a fantastic week of baseball. Event coordinator Kenten Pope gave a breakdown of the event. There were 4,717 pitches thrown, over 480 fans from out of town, 257 runs scored, 144 players, 132 strike outs, 30 home runs, 23 games, 12 teams from 5 states, 4 umpires, and 1 Dino-Mite tournament that filled restaurants and hotel rooms all over town.
